Amflee Spot On is indicated for the treatment of infestations by fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.) and ticks (Dermacentor reticulatus), treatment of infestations by biting lice Trichodectes canis in dogs. Most lice die within 2 days.
The insecticidal efficacy against new infestations by adult fleas persists for up to 8 weeks. The veterinary medicine has a persistent acaricidal efficacy for up to 3 weeks against Ixodes ricinus and for up to 4 weeks against Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Dermacentor reticulatus. If ticks of certain species (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus) are present when the veterinary medicine is applied, they may not all be killed within the first 48 hours.
The veterinary medicine can be used as part of a treatment strategy for the control of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD) when this has been previously diagnosed by the veterinarian.
Active substances: Fipronil 134 mg
Fipronil is an insecticide and an acaricide belonging to the family of phenylpyrazoles. It acts through inhibition of the GABA complex, binding to the chlorine channel and thus blocking pre- and post-synaptic transfer of chlorine ions through cell membranes. This results in uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system and the death of insects and mites. Fipronil has insecticidal and acaricidal activity against fleas (Ctenocephalides spp) and ticks (Rhipicephalus spp, Dermacentor spp, Ixodes spp including Ixodes ricinus) in cats.
The fleas will be killed within 24 hours. The ticks will be killed 48 hours after contact with fipronil, however if Rhipicephalus sanguineus ticks are present when the veterinary medicine is applied, they may not all be killed within 48 hours, but may be killed within a week.
